#19 Volunteer three times
-- June 30th, volunterred for the Waves For The Brave which helps disabled vetereans enjoy a day in the water as we help them surf. I am was mainly end point where I would help the veteran turn them around and drag the board back into the water to get ready for another wave. For the beginning of the morning I was worried about waves but when we got in the waves just kept getting bigger and bigger. Got to meet veterans of all areas of concern(PSTD, lost limbs, paralyzed) and time(Iraq, Vietnam, etc) but one thing they had in common was they were all enjoying themselves and that made me happy as well.
I was hesitant as the beginning not knowing what to expect. I am high introvert and was worried about having to make conversation with someone with a brain injury or something to that nature. But we had almost a 4:1, maybe more, ratio of volunteers but in the end I was happy to attend and would not mind doing it again. It took disabled vets to get me body full in the ocean for the first time since the mid-90's so why not.
